As a practicing painter and mixed media artist, my inspiration arises from the the natural world--the traditions of still life, landscape and figurative composition. My process of working the surface aims to achieve an adjustment of scale, light, and density into a presence of the imagined form. My nonsequitur photo collages are a process of altering the appearance of found print media materials by finding a humorous situation in an aesthetic context that reflects an essential human condition while keeping an eye on maintaining light, shadow, and color tones. I have also worked with found materials to arrange metaphoric expressions as assemblage.
